This weekend did not turn out as planned. After a crazy turn of events, we didn't make it to Chicago and my girls are still here with me. It's bittersweet really. I'm sad they won't get to experience the trip, but, boy do I enjoy them being home.
We didn't really know until last minute that we would sit this one out. Disappointment was the word of the day, but you'd have never known by looking at them.
They were troopers. I always try to teach my kids to be flexible when plans change, but with something this big and exciting I expected them to have some trouble handling it. Boy, was I impressed! Yes, they were sad and disappointed, but they handled it with such grace. I think they are pretty amazing.
Sunday evening we met my sister-in-law and some of her kids for ice cream. Not a trace of sadness. These are some incredibly resilient young ladies.
With a little crazy mixed in.
