When the girls first come they haven't seen much of the world outside the town they came from. I do my best to give them new experiences in new places.
They've now seen some of the world outside of Texas. We've been to Arkansas, Tennessee Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma. It's not a ton, but it's where we've made it over the last seven years.
Today we are heading to Indiana. We're attending a conference in Indianapolis. We're excited, but there was a little disappointment among the troops when they found out it's only 2 hours away from our new home in Ohio. There is a hotel involved. That may have perked them up a little.
Packing up the car always leads to a little reminiscing. Especially about these soda cups.
Is that not the largest drink you've ever seen? It was definitely the largest we had ever had.
We were on our way home from North Texas when we stopped in Tyler for a quick drive-thru lunch. We still had five hours to go so we ordered large sodas. We don't keep soda in the house, so it's always a treat for when we eat out. Who knew Dairy Queen had Texas-sized cups? We talked about those cups for days. No one made it through the whole thing and we stopped at more rest areas than I can count on the way home, but it was worth it for the funny memory that sticks in our minds.
It's the little things really.
We head out in just a little while. I'm sure we'll laugh about those cups as big as our heads as we eat lunch. I love the little, fun memories like that.
