They were nice chairs, just a little plain, nothing special.
So we started by spray painting the seats white.
Then we picked a color. This one...
It's Aqua Rapids by Behr. Hannah said it was a color that slaps you in the face every time you walk by. Perfect!
Next thing you know we had one down...
and then the other.
Then I sprayed them with a clear coat of this...
I don't know how you feel about lacquer spray, but I love this stuff. I coat everything I paint with it. It takes the tackiness away within ten minutes. It's revolutionized my crafty life. I'm not being compensated, I just love this product!
So my chairs turned out like this...
But something bothered me. I didn't like the lines between the two colors. I had used painter's tape, but it just wasn't clean enough. Then I had an idea.
Washi tape. I love this stuff, too.
Much nicer line.
The sunroom is just a little bit brighter these days. Our two chairs have livened up our white table. We're enjoying them because they seem a little more "us" now.
This project had me thinking while I was painting. I was thinking about the spark that my girls add to my life. About how my life was functional before they showed up, just like the chairs were functional. But now, oh my, how much more colorful and vibrant it is. These chairs would have served me just fine without a new coat of paint, but we're certainly enjoying the pop of color we added. How much more I'm enjoying the colors the girls add to my tapestry of life everyday! We'll think about that today every time we walk past these chairs.
