Fireflies, Watermelon and Bug Spray

Fireflies. Or lightening bugs. I think they're both the same thing, but I could be wrong...

We saw one tonight driving home. The first one we've seen this season.

And it made me think about summer and what I want our summer to look like.

Evening bike rides

Firefly night lights

Staying up past bedtime

Sweet tea and front porch swings

This summer I want my girls to slow down.

I want them to jump rope and hopscotch and try to keep the hula hoop up for more than one go-around.

I want them to eat watermelon right off the rind and not worry about the sticky mess.

I want to take them camping and watch the stars and catch a fish.

I want them to laugh and laugh and laugh.

I want them to be kids. Because they're almost grown.

I want them to remember summer as a special time, together and outside with me as an active participant. I'm purposing to make this summer happen.

I'm just going to need a whole lot of bug spray.
