This Is Why We Do What We Do

I didn't know what they were talking about.  Ashley and the new one were sitting on the front porch. It was a beautiful afternoon to sit and chat. Amy was riding her bicycle in the driveway.

Hannah was helping me make supper.  This day was no different than any other.

Until she came running into the kitchen.  Flushed face. Racing words.

"Mama!  I want to ask Jesus into my heart!"

Funny how a day can turn on a dime like that.

Isn't this what it's really all about?  Does anything else even remotely compare with a lost soul being set free?

Not around here.

We talked and prayed and celebrated the most important decision she will ever make.

This is why we do what we do.

We turn our lives upside down every time  a new one moves in. We handle the screaming. We handle the mean words. Some days we handle those things better than others.

Our things get broken. Our plans get cancelled. Sometimes others don't understand.

But a day like today makes it all worth it.

I'm so thankful for Ashley's willingness to share the Gospel with a little heart ready to hear and big sisters willing to be inconvenienced to see God change lives.

Our road might not always be easy, but it has the best views in town.
